Professor Shelupanov is an Honorary Worker of Higher Professional Education in Russia, winner of the Russian Government Award in Education, winner of the Science and Education Award of Tomsk region. Professor Shelupanov holds a number of industry awards from the Federal Service for Technical and Export Control (FSTEC) of Russia, Russian Federal Security Service, Cosmonautics Federation of Russia, Russian Ministry of Communications, Tomsk and Tomsk region governments.
Professor Shelupanov graduated from Tomsk State University in 1976, majoring in applied mathematics and mechanics. After graduation he joined staff of the Research Institute of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics as an engineer, and later as a research officer. In 1988–1993 he was Division Head in the Research Institute of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, and in 1996–1997 held the post of the Division Deputy Director for Research.
In 1993 Professor Shelupanov joined the staff of TUSUR University. In 1999 he became head of the Department of Complex Information Security of Computer Systems, and in 2008 he became Head of the Institute of System Integration and Security.
In 2010–2014 he was appointed Vice-Rector for Research.
In 2014 Professor Shelupanov was elected the Rector of TUSUR University.
Research
Professor Shelupanov has initiated the development of fundamental and applied research in design and development of complex information security systems and currently is the head of the research direction at TUSUR University.
The research of Professor Shelupanov is published in over 450 papers, including 7 monographs, 47 study guides and course books, 23 patents and registration certificates.
Teaching and Guiding
Professor Shelupanov has provided research guidance to 22 candidates of science and 3 doctors of science. He is a member of three dissertation councils, and a member of the Computer Science and Technology Expert Council of the Supreme Attestation Commission under the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, a Federal Expert of the Russian Accreditation Agency, and a Research and Engineering Expert of the Scientific Research Institute – Federal Research Center for Projects Evaluation and Consulting Services (SRI FRCEC).
In 2000 Professor Shelupanov initiated the creation and is currently the head of the Siberian Regional Branch of Information Security Education Union of Russian Universities. The Union coordinates the academic activities of 25 universities of Siberia and the Russian Far East that offer degree programs in information security and data protection.
