Department of Industrial Electronics

A master program is the second stage of higher education. Completion of a master program provides a more advanced and specialized training for top-qualification specialists. All the master programs in the major “Electronics and nanoelectronics” are designed as per the requirements of professional standards in cooperation with the leading Russian companies, which increases the competitiveness of master program graduates in this major.

The graduates will be trained to carry out the following activity: research, design engineering, technology design, organization and management, and science and teaching.

Graduate’s expertise and skills

The graduates of master programs in electronics and nanoelectronics are capable of performing the following professional tasks:

  • Develop work plans and programs for scientific research and technical developments, draw up individual assignments for the implementers.
  • Develop the methods and carry out research, measure the parameters and characteristics of electronics, analyze the results.
  • Develop physical and mathematical models; perform computer simulation of the given physical processes, equipment, circuits and devices.
  • Draw up technical assignments for design engineering work.
  • Design electronic equipment, devices and systems as per the given requirements.
  • Draw up design engineering documents as per the guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Draw up technical assignments for the design of industrial processes for the manufacturing of electronic materials and pieces of equipment.
  • Design complex industrial processes for the manufacturing of electronic materials and pieces of equipment using automated industrial production-support systems.
  • Draw up technical documentation for the designed electronic equipment, devices and systems.
  • Manage the teams of implementers.
  • Take part in feasibility studies and functional-cost analysis of the market efficiency for the created product.
  • Work as a teacher in vocational and higher education institutions in the relevant fields under the supervision of a professor, associate professor or head teachers.
  • Participate in the development of teaching and learning aids for students in the relevant field.

Requirements to master program applicants

For a successful completion of a principal academic master program, an applicant must possess the knowledge in the respective domain in the scope stipulated by the state education standards for higher education and a state-issued higher education document (degree) of at least bachelor’s level.

Those willing to complete master programs shall be enrolled based on the results of their admission examination in the academic disciplines selected by the administering department.

Specialization: Electronic Devices for Collecting, Processing and Displaying of Information
Department of Industrial Electronics

This master program deals with a hi-tech field of electronics related to development, manufacture and operation of automated information collection, processing and display systems for industrial processes and control over them. This field widely uses the advances in electronics: microchips of various integration, new types of electronic indicators, based on various physical operation principles: liquid crystal, electron-beam, gas-discharge, electroluminescent and other indicators. Microprocessors are widely used in indicator control systems.

High quality of the master program students is ensured by the modern equipment available at the department, which includes a regularly updated IT-park, laboratory facilities that use the latest scientific achievements and modern hardware components. Annually several master program students go abroad for apprenticeship in Germany, Taiwan and South Korea.

Graduate’s expertise and skills

The expertise of the master program graduate includes the following: physical basis and manufacture technology of electronic gages for the industry, biomedicine, environmental monitoring; electronic and microchip devices for information collection, processing and display, signal processors and special microcontrollers for information processing, coding and transfer over communication lines; electronic devices and equipment for information storage; technical means of data input-output and editing systems; the principles of multipath information collection, processing and display systems for industrial manufacturing process or the condition of business or other objects and technological processes.

A graduate of the master program is prepared for research, scientific work and teaching.

The academic process at the department is provided by 5 doctors of science, 20 candidates of science and 40 research officers. The department is one of the largest in the university in terms of both its staff and the number of students. Over many years, the curriculums of TUSUR’s department of industrial electronics are recognized as the best by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.

Specialization: Industrial Electronics and Microprocessor Engineering
Department of Industrial Electronics

The master program deals with modern electronics and control systems used in the industry. This includes microprocessor information collection and processing systems and computer systems that control complex industrial processes and operations, power electronics that ensures the operation of energy systems and high-performance operational mechanisms.

A student of the master program is trained for professional research, scientific and teaching activities. This is relevant for research institutes, universities and industrial enterprises that use computer controlled machines, industrial robots, automated control and management systems, power electronics; manufacture office and household appliances (“smart house” systems, complex medical equipment), automobile and aircraft electronics, and military electronics and equipment.

High quality training of the master program students is achieved with the help of the modern equipment, available at the department, including the regularly updated IT-park, and laboratory facilities that utilize the latest advances of science and modern hardware. The curriculum is based on individual academic plans with a credit points system wherein a student chooses their own academic trajectory by selecting which disciplines to study in a given semester.

Graduate’s expertise and skills

The expertise of the master program graduate includes:

  • Physical basis of energy conversion, the principles and ways to create electrical current and voltage converters, modern methods for their analysis and optimization, modern methods used to model converters and study transitional and stationary processes, static and dynamic stability.
  • Diagnostic methods for high-capacity transformers, optimal adjustment of converters in power units and electrical motors.
  • Modern semiconductor power devices, mathematical and physical methods of transitional processes occurring in them.
  • Mathematical problems of switching circuits synthesis, using microchip devices for converter installation control systems.

Specialization: Quantum and Optical Electronics
Department of Electronic Devices

The relevance of the master program is conditioned by the wide use of optical, electronic and optical electronic equipment and devices in various industries and everyday life, as well as continuous improvement of optical, electronic and optical electronic devises themselves.

Nowadays, scientists all over the world, including the graduates of our university, develop new directions: laser, integral, fiber, adaptive and nonlinear optics, micro- and nanooptics as well as new generations of lasers, LED, optical materials, devices, systems, etc. The master program stipulates advanced study of the characteristics and physical processes, occurring during the interaction of light emission with various systems, physical principles and basic elements for registering, modulation, deviation, transformation, transfer and processing of light emission.

Unique program

The master program is based on the practical experience of TUSUR’s scientists in fundamental research of the physical principles of quantum and optical electronics, and their use for the development of equipment, based on it. The master program students in course of their study have the opportunity to join a real-life research team, test their skills in solving relevant problems of modern physics, optics and instrumentation. Active participants of such work make reports at regional, all-Russian and international scientific conferences; publish their papers in the national and foreign scientific journals. The scientific work is carried out in cooperation with scientists from Tomsk and other cities: Vladivostok, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Chelyabinsk, Minsk, neighboring and non-CIS countries. Upon completion of the master program, the graduates may continue their education with a postgraduate program.

The expertise of the master program graduates includes the ways and means, and methods of theoretical and experimental research; mathematical and computer modeling, design engineering, constructional design, operation, manufacturing process of materials, components, electrical devices and equipment, vacuum, plasma, solid-state, microwave, optical, micro- and nanoelectronic units of various purposes. The skills of the master program graduate may be used at research, higher vocational education institutions and research and production companies.

He or she can carry out the following professional activity in the field of both quantum and optical electronics, and in other fields of science and technology: design engineering, engineering, research, organization and management, and scientific and teaching.

Over their period of study under the master program, the students learn to use their knowledge, skills and personal qualities to carry out various challenges in their professional activity.

Specialization: Solid-State Electronics
Department of Physical Electronics

The beginning of the XXI century was marked with rapid development of nanotechnologies, micro- and nanosystem equipment, and nanoelectronics. One may argue that those who own nanotechnologoes, own the world. However, successful development of nanoindustry requires highly qualified specialists. The master program successfully trains the graduates who are sought after by the modern science-intensive innovative companies.

The modern electronics follows the course on the development of nanoelectronics, and is based on the use of heterostructures. According to Nobel prize winner Zh.I. Alfyorov, the future of electronics is in heterostructure electronics. Civil and military SHF electronics, laser devices, LED equipment and high-performance discrete SHF devices: it all belongs to heterostructure nanoelectronics.

The graduate of the master program is a high qualification specialists in the field of development of modern micro- and nanoelectronics, microsystem equipment and manufacturing technology thereof.

What makes this program unique is that, first of all, it is put into practice by high level professionals from industrial companies related to electronics.

Secondly, the teaching staff is made of candidates and doctors of science with vast practical experience, including the same in electronic companies. In general, the entire master program is designed to train specialists who can solve the problems of electronic companies in the Russian Federation.

Thirdly, the training under the master program takes place at the premises of science-intensive hi-tech companies such as “Micran”, “NIIPP”, “Polus” (Tomsk) and TUSUR’s scientific academic center “Nanotechnologies” that use unique equipment.

The master program students who possess the necessary professional level and language skills are given an opportunity to have on-site training or apprenticeship in the universities and laboratories of France and Germany.

The master program is designed to train master degree specialists who specialize in design and development of nanoelectronic devices, micro-and nanosystem equipment, microwave electronics, laser and LED equipment, using nanotechnologies. It is a prospective interdisciplinary master program that allows one to fulfill their potential in various fields of science, technology and nanoelectronic industry. The demand for such specialists is high both in Russia and abroad.

Upon completion of the master program, the graduate receives the master’s degree and may work as design engineer or production engineer in electronic companies; researcher or research officer in RAS institutions, design bureaus and scientific departments of industrial companies; carry out scientific or teaching activities in higher education institutions, as well as carry out organization and management activities. A graduate may continue their education with a postgraduate program.
