TUSUR and Space Corporation Energia to Hold RoboCup Space League

Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics and Korolev Rocket and Space Corporation Energia have launched the Space League project, designed to train robotics professionals and promote RoboCup in Moscow.

The project is organized as part of strategic partnership that the two parties formalized in April this year. Within the partnership, TUSUR and Energia will be developing their academic, scientific and cultural cooperation, one of the most important joint educational initiatives is the robotics competition for school students in Korolev. The details for the competition were discussed during the national final RoboCup Russia Open 2017 in Tomsk.

The Space League project will include an educational program for trainers and teachers of Korolev who will be creating and supervising RoboCup teams. Korolev will also host robotics competition that will be based on the standard RoboCup rules and apart from its standard challenges will include special new challenges for space robotics. The Rescue Challenge will be offered in an updated form, with obstacles designed to mimic extraterrestrial terrain.

Korolev Rocket and Space Corporation Energia is a Russian manufacturer of spacecraft and space station components. The company is the prime developer and contractor of the Russian manned spaceflight program.

RoboCup (Robot World Cup Initiative) is a non-profit scientific and cultural project launched in 1993 in order to promote artificial intelligence, robotics and other fields of science and technology through robotics competitions. The first RoboCup challenge was held in 1997 in Nagoya, Japan.
