UBI Global, RBC and the Higher School of Economics have published their new ranking of Russia’s university-based accelerators and business incubators.
According to the ranking, the top three business incubators in Russia are the Business Incubator of the ITMO University (Saint Petersburg), the Business Incubator of the Irkutsk National Research Technical University (Irkutsk) and the Student Business Incubator of TUSUR University (Tomsk).
Analysts of UBI Global have assessed a total of 56 university-based and 13 independent business incubators and accelerators in Russia against 41 parameters. All parameters were grouped into three categories: value for the Russian ecosystem, value for startup customers and appeal of their programs. The performance indicators were also compared to reference groups around the world.
The Student Business Incubator of TUSUR University opened in 2004 and was the first student business incubator in Russia. As of 2016, a total of 266 projects have been residents of the TUSUR SBI. Six companies – graduates of the TUSUR SBI are currently operating in the international market, and five more companies are residents of the Tomsk Special Economic Zone and the Skolkovo Innovation Center.
Every year the SBI incubates 10 projects, receiving investment of over USD 500 000.
