More than 200 representatives of 45 universities from Russia, India, Indonesia, China, South Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Armenia and other countries participated in the forum that took place on the picturesque Altay territory.
There were five discussion platforms organized within the event and dedicated to various issues with regard to education, science, culture, healthy lifestyle and youth organizations.
The forum was aimed at consolidation of Asian universities and institutions for further integration in education and enhancement of international academic mobility and cultural contacts.
A forum of such scale has been carried out beyond the Urals for the first time and that is due to the increasing interest of Russian and Asian universities in developing cooperation.
Following the results of the forum, the participants have issued a resolution proposing to establish an Asian universities association, which will interact with international organizations, such as UNESCO and SCO University.
TUSUR has also been invited to enter the future association.
At the forum, our university has been represented by the Deputy Director of Science and Education Center of TUSUR Faculty of Human Sciences Natalia Yarosh and TUSUR students. They presented their methods for training specialists in organizing work with youth, which drew attention of some Asian universities representatives also interested in training such specialists as the demand for them in Asian labour market, especially in China and Singapore, is quite high.
It is expected that rectors of 45 participating universities will meet again at the end of 2012 - the beginning of 2013 to sign a memorandum establishing the Asian universities association, whereas the next Asian Student Forum is to be held in Altay in 2014.
