E-Learning Technologies Designed by TUSUR Made Available to Tomsk Schools

April 15, 2020

Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics is providing support to the schools of Tomsk and Tomsk region as they switch to e-learning.

TUSUR University is providing personalized support to the schools of Tomsk and Tomsk region: the University has assigned more than 20 digital volunteers who address the technical and organizational aspects of e-learning.

«The major problem that the schools face as they switch to the distance education format is the challenge of transferring the entirety of their academic processes into the digital environment. A systemic solution of that problem requires a high-capacity IT infrastructure, which is often unavailable at schools. Furthermore, they need to know how to organize the e-learning process itself», said TUSUR Rector Victor Rulevskiy.

TUSUR University has made its own technologies and infrastructures available to schools, offering them an easy solution on which to base their own systems of e-learning. Each school will be supported by volunteers, students from various engineering faculties of the University. The schools will also be invited to participate in support webinars and provided with free access to instructional courses for teachers. The volunteers will be providing ongoing support regarding any services and applications within the e-learning system to ensure that school students find their experience with distance learning engaging and instructive.

«Each school will have administrator access to our e-learning environment where they will be able to create their own content, creating and publishing courses, whether in the form of texts, videos or interactive exercises, running surveys, holding tests, arranging student chats, and generating performance reports», adds Victor Rulevskiy. University representatives add that TUSUR has sufficient computing capacity to support the schools that wish to access its e-learning environment.

The University has launched a hotline for schools that will process any inquiries and request for volunteer assistance.
